on rituals.... 11. I buy a new body wash & lotion set for the important phases of my life. When I graduated it was Estee Lauder’s Beautiful, when I got married it was something pepperminty, when I found out I was pregnant I got something called Oriental Rose, and for the new Stay-At-Home-Mom phase, it’s Enchanted Meadows’ Cashmere scent. It’s all about scent memory – when I smell any of the above, I’m flooded with memories of those times. 12. When an ambulance or fire truck goes by, I always say a three word prayer for the people who do the jobs they do, and the people who they are on their way to help. 13. I paint my toenails on Sundays. 14. Every Saturday, my mom and I go for brunch and then shopping. We’ve done it ever since I moved out on my own. 15. At night, when Sadie’s going to bed, I ask her what she’s most grateful for today. She doesn’t answer in language I understand, but she talks up a storm. Then I tell her what I’m most grateful for that day. It’s been part of the bedtime routine since she was born. 16. I always put on hand lotion before I knit, not because the yarn is drying, but because it gives my knitting the faintest scent of lovely. 17. Every knit design idea I have is drawn into a cloth covered book full of itty-bitty graph paper. It contains nothing but preliminary sketches. 18. When we go to bed, I lay on my side, facing the door and Oliver (the aforementioned Chihuahua) curls up against my belly. It’s how we’ve always done it,...even in the heat of summer. 19. When I open the internet every day to the MSN home page, I read all the gossip headlines and catch up on celebrity news. (yet I refuse to watch Entertainment Tonight or Extra....go figure) 20. Every morning when I roll out of bed I either heat up a Tim Horton’s coffee, or make a pot of coffee. There’s nothing interesting about that, but it’s #20, and I’m all out of things to tell you :) Tah-dah!! I made it through another 10 things! Perhaps I'll do some actual knitting I can show you for the next post.
