I’ve always wanted to do that ‘100 Things’ meme, but found the ‘100’ part a tad intimidating. Because I have no knitting news to share, unless you want to hear about all the yarn I’ve been buying in an attempt to revive my knitting mojo, here’s the first instalment of my 100 Things (thank you JulieFrick for the idea!)
1. I am returning to work after a year-long maternity leave. My strongest pull to return is that I don’t want to be only able to afford acrylic yarn.
2. I secretly imagine myself as a single mother. I see it very clearly in my mind; Not because that’s my goal, but because it brings me a bit of peace, knowing that if I ever need to, I could do it on my own.
3. I have a Chihuahua. Oliver. He’s yappy and mean to kids. He doesn’t like in-laws or mail carriers, or other dogs. If you knock on my door, you’d swear he was a lot bigger than he is, and that he’s foaming at the mouth. I love him.
4. I dropped out of the Alberta College of Art & Design after a year and a half. My parents were separating and selling the house, and I didn’t want to go into debt with student loans. I hate debt.
5. I am addicted to Tim Horton’s coffee. I don’t like any other coffee – it has to be Tim Horton’s, and it has to be made in the store. I don’t like anything that comes out of my coffee maker, or any other coffee shop.
6. I collect iPods, and accessories. I don’t mean to, but those folks at Apple are always coming out with something new, and I just can’t stop myself. I have an iPod mini (it is now filled with lullabies and kids music, and lives in Sadie’s room in one of those fancy alarm clock deals), an old Shuffle (the tall, skinny kind) that doesn’t belong to anybody, a new Shuffle that lives atop the treadmill, and a video iPod that accompanies me on road trips and to work, and sits in my alarm clock and moves to my kitchen radio. Our house is now equipped with so many iPod stereos, and alarm clocks, you’d have to see it to believe it.
7. I named my daughter Sadie because it was a classic name that wasn’t popular. It’s now in the top 10 list of baby names for a girl. I’m a little pissed.
8. I’m shy. Really shy. I’ve been with my husband for 8 years, and still can’t hold a decent conversation with his parents.
9. I had a hole in my eardrum when I was 14. The doctor took a skin graft from the side of my head to repair it.
10. I don’t know how to swim, ride a bike or drive a car. If you want to go for a 5 hour walk though, I’m your girl!
That’s it! The first 10 down. Perhaps next time I will have some knitting to share!
